The best months to start the breeding process are between April and July.

CHOOSING KOI RIGHT

You need healthy and high quality Koi. Take a look at your fish collection and choose the Koi that has the best shape of the most attractive display proportions moving strong and has no disease or abnormalities. Select the Koi with the color pattern you want.

AGE AND SIZE OF KOI FOR MATING

Your fish should be about inches in cm in length. The ideal male Koi for breeding is about up to the year whereas the female should – the year. their age can affect the quality of the shell. Young females tend to produce eggs with thin shells that may be too fragile to survive. But if the female is too old the shell is too difficult and the sperm cannot penetrate.

Men who are ready for spawning have developed breeding of tuberdes on their heads and pectoral fins.

ENVIRONMENTAL SEEDS

You need a separate pool or tank for breeding. Water should be of the highest quality and optimum temperature. You need a place where eggs can be laid like grass or branches. It will also serve as a private place once the little fish have appeared. The best breeding combination is two males and one female. After spawning the egg laying remove the Koi fish and treat the pond with bronze green to prevent any fungus.

BABY KOI

With water temperature at degrees Celsius degrees Fahrenheit baby fish seeds should hatch in a few days. As mentioned females may lay up eggs so you will probably see a little frying everywhere. They will look for private places such as grass or branches or pond walls.

You just have to feed them after – day. A boiled egg yolk to make a large meal or brine shrimp. You can also buy fried fish food from specialist shops. You will know when they are ready to eat as they will start swimming around the pool and will often be grouped together.

About four days after hatching remove the breeding material. This will get rid of the un hatched eggs and lower the level of ammonia in the water.

With thousands of seeds there will be a lot of garbage collecting at the bottom of the tank or pond. Suck this out and add fresh water regularly

AFTER THREE OVER FOUR WEEKS

When frying you are about three to four weeks old you will need to move them to another tank aquarium or pond. Larger seeds will probably eat the weaker ones then wait out for this and divide them into separate tanks if you have to. Your koi will start to grow fast so you may have to eat more often but don't escape as koi that grow too fast lose some color.

Once your Koi has grown to a decent size around – inches you may be able to reintroduce it into the main pond but be careful to see if the big Koi doesn't try to eat it.
